James Franklin Carey, 53 of Davistown, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, September 4, 2019 at home. He was born December 9, 1965 in Shawsville, Virginia, son of Lydia Elizabeth (Cress) Carey of Mt. Morris and the late Franklin Earl Carey Sr.. In addition to his mother he is survived by his wife of 33 years, Ann Marie (Emmy) Pauley Carey, following children, Felisia Self and husband Robert Jr., Racheal Huggins, Jamie Maskil and husband Jonathan, Brianna Carey, Troy Carey, five grandchildren, Mya Self, Mackenzie Self, Robert Self III, Sofia Self, Peyton Huggins, three brothers, Richard (Porkchop) Carey and wife Suzanne, David (Coon Dog) Carey and Charlotte Hanlan, Steven (Squeek) Carey and two sisters, Lisa Grim and husband John, Ruth Ann Ayers and husband Bobby, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his father he was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Tommy Huggins, his sister, Peg Shaffer, and his brother, Franklin Earl Carey Jr.. James was an avid outdoorsman, he loved hunting, fishing, and ginsenging, but most of all he loved just to hang out with his family and friends. Friends will be received in the Louis E. Rudolph Funeral Home, Thomas B. Rudolph, Funeral Director & Supervisor, 15 N. Main St. Point Marion on Saturday, Sept. 7 from 2-4 & 6-8 pm, Sunday, Sept. 8 from 2-4 & 6-8 pm and on Monday, Sept. 9 from 10 to 11 am the time of service with Pastor Michael Flannery officiating.
